2026 ULI British Columbia MMC Panel Discussion
Recently, Tasu Construction joined the 2026 Urban Land Institute Cascadia Conference at the Vancouver Museum.
Our own Jamie Hutton represented Tasu on the "Modern Methods of Construction" panel, moderated by Oliver Tennant of CitySpaces. Alongside Kenny Dempsey of Kindred Construction and Ian Baird of Caliber Construction, the panel dug into how mass timber, prefabrication, and modular design are reshaping project delivery across B.C.
A few takeaways stuck with us: modern methods of construction are not a default, rather a deliberate choice that should follow the project. Success depends on design and construction teams coordinating early, because off-site construction is a manufacturing discipline, not a project-management afterthought. Challenging traditional delivery models takes leadership willing to move the conversation from "what if" to "here's how."
At Tasu, we've spent years delivering volumetric modular buildings to communities across Western Canada so it was energizing to be part of a discussion about where the industry is genuinely headed.
We were honored to take part in the panel, a conversation that's only gaining momentum as the province looks to build faster, smarter, and closer to community need. A big thank you to everyone involved for the opportunity, and to Oliver, Kenny, and Ian for a great discussion.
The future of construction is being built off-site!
