Project Description
Tasu Construction worked with BC Housing, the District of Squamish, and Squamish Helping Hands to build an Emergency Response Centre to provide housing for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The shelter, erected in just three weeks, was critical to providing a safe space for residents to isolate during the pandemic until construction of the community’s permanent housing facility was completed.
Our teams provided the construction and installation of the 48-room fully commissioned dormitory complex, which included self-contained bedrooms and centrally located washrooms. Tasu Construction completed all groundwork, installed and connected all required utilities, and provided construction security and site cleaning services.
The project’s success led to a series of future Supportive Housing projects with BC Housing in Burnaby, Kelowna, Kamloops, and Richmond. Upon the project’s completion in August of 2020, the units were repurposed to a subsequent Supportive Housing project in nearby Burnaby, BC.
