Precision Lift For Modular Elevator Shaft:

Tasu Construction successfully craned a six story Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) elevator shaft into place alongside and interconnected with the main modular structure for a new 6 storey building.

CLT’s are another innovative offsite/prefabricated method that helps contribute to onsite efficiency and speed of modular construction. The shaft was craned in as a fully assembled component that spanned three vertical stories, needing to be carefully aligned and placed with precision to ensure seamless and safe connection with the rest of the building. Lifting and installing the CLT with advanced coordination and technical skill was a challenge that our experienced team handled with confidence.

Here’s what Tasu's project manager, Kevin Berry, had to say about this key project milestone: "The CLT installation was a complex lift that required detailed planning, close coordination, and a strong focus on safety. Our rigging crew and crane operator seamlessly executed the install, having meticulously prepared every detail in advance. With such a highly technical operation, it was impressive to see the team communicate so effectively and collaborate to get the job done!"

This lift represents more than just structural progress — it reflects the strength of our collaborative efforts on site. Working alongside our project partners and trades, our team continues to demonstrate what’s possible when advanced building methods meet strategically planned execution.

This 6 storey building is a BC housing initiative which aims to provide affordable and supportive housing to people in need. Visit this website to learn more about the project: Surrey – Bentley Road | Let's Talk Housing BC
