A new supportive housing project called “Harbour House” is officially complete and residents are scheduled to move in this spring.

Harbour House is a newly completed supportive housing development made possible through funding from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (CMHC) Rapid Housing Initiative. This thoughtfully designed multi-family residence offers 25 units, including a mix of studio and two-bedroom suites, providing safe, stable, and affordable housing for women and women with children who are facing housing insecurity.
Beyond the private living spaces, Harbour House has been designed to foster a sense of community and well-being. The building includes inviting communal lounges, dedicated spaces for supportive services, laundry facilities, personal storage lockers, and outdoor gardens. A dedicated children’s play area adds to the family-friendly environment, creating a welcoming and nurturing space.

As Canada continues to navigate a growing housing crisis, innovative building solutions like modular construction are becoming essential for delivering rapid, effective housing initiatives. For this important project, Tasu Construction played a key role in every phase—from design and modular installation to mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, and interior finishes. Leveraging the speed and efficiency of modular construction, this three-storey multi-family building was completed in just 12 months.
Gaining community support is vital when introducing supportive housing into established neighborhoods. With this in mind, the building was thoughtfully designed using natural colors and materials to harmonize with its surroundings and foster a sense of belonging within the community.

As communities across Canada continue to seek solutions to the housing crisis, Harbour House serves as a model for how supportive housing can be delivered quickly, beautifully, and with lasting impact.
